I work with adults and adolescents affected by traumatic events, or possible stress due to unexpected life changes. I specialize in relieving anxiety and depression symptoms such as repetitious behaviors, excessive worry, low self-esteem, and an overall feeling of not being in control of one's life.
My approach is primarily through using a Cognitive Behavioral model (CBT/TF-CBT) with a strength based and collaborative approach; however, I include educational and alternative interventions to treat the whole person, based on your specific needs and wants. I believe that through empowerment you'll be able to bring about positive change, and become increasingly mentally and physically healthy.
I've experienced what it takes to increase cohesion within a family unit, while still enhancing the uniqueness of the individuals within it. Having family members with dementia gave me a special interest in the functions of the brain; specifically, how cognitive abilities and personalities are altered by disease, trauma, and substance use.
My hobbies are caring for my animals, forensic science, trying new foods and recipes, and playing a variety of video games.
